January Skincare of the Month relaxes skin with deep creases and wrinkles

DeCrease™, our Skincare of the Month for January 2009, has been mailed to qualifying customers.

DeCrease™ will relax skin and improve the appearance of deep creases and wrinkles around lips and eyes, and at the forehead between the eyebrows. Unlike fine lines, deep creases in the skin can be strongly connected to contracted muscles which underly the skin and constrict it, creating folds within the skin surface. This situation requires a product which can relax the skin surface so it can reassume the smooth appearance of healthy young skin.

The use of Botox to achieve such an effect is risky since Botox is one of the most powerful poisons known to science and when injected under the skin its effect is to paralyze communication within the nerve-muscle network which is beneath the skin. Poisoning of the nerve-muscle signals for the purpose of skin relaxation and moderate-good straightening of wrinkles is quite a high price to pay. Our product is applied topically rather than by an injection. Our nanotechnologies-based vehicles carry the product deep into the skin. Our product is based on natural actives and botanical extracts which create a high level of skin relaxation and results in improved appearance of deep skin creases and wrinkles. Appearance improves in just minutes after application and the visible effects can be maintained and built up with time.

Two New Formulations Feature Cactus Fruit

Our free Skincare of the Month for November has been mailed to shoppers who made qualifying purchases in October and September and we are very happy to make it available now for general sale.

DesertBloom™ Hydrating Cream is formulated in a soothing emollient base of mango butter, with extracts of cactus fruit and blackberry seeds and essential oil of balsam peru.

Like mango butter [Mangifera indica], both cactus fruit [prickly pear, Opuntia ficus-indica] and balsam peru [Myroxylon pereirae] have long histories of use as traditional remedies for skin irritations and other complaints. Six-Month Scalp Renewal Regimen

We get many questions from shoppers about how best to combine multiple cosmeceuticals to optimize skin and scalp care. We are fascinated by synergy and very happy to answer those questions, but we would also like to offer some big-picture suggestions about how to create something greater than the sum of its parts (that’s synergy!) with shifting patterns of action and counter-action (that’s dynamic synergy!). As a step in that direction, we have created two things:

• a six-month scalp renewal regimen, laid out on a day-by-day graph and supported with extensive notes, showing a method of coordinating the use of ten bottles and jars containing eight of our scalp care cosmeceuticals within a dynamic pattern
• a Scalp Renewal Regimen Kit, containing all the products described in the regimen, in quantities adequate to support the regimen for six months

The cost of the Scalp Renewal Regimen Kit is a $100 savings on the price of its contents if they are purchased separately.

We hope both of these items, the Scalp Renewal Regimen (the plan) and the Scalp Renewal Regimen Kit (the supplies to implement the plan), will be educational and helpful and great winners in the battle of the less-than-perfect scalps. We plan to publish similar regimens for other groups of cosmeceuticals soon.

Simple Skincare

You’ve certainly noticed that the cost of almost everything has gone up in the past year. As manufacturers, we face this problem in many directions: prices have increased for the supplies and equipment we buy; transportation costs are higher, both for the raw ingredients we have shipped to us and for the finished products we send out to our customers; budgets are tighter, so shoppers who might have previously stocked up with the largest-available size are now buying just enough to get by; money is tight, and it seems as if this may be the situation for a while.

The easy thing for us to do about the current financial crunch would be to join the crowd and raise all our prices, passing along our increased expenses to consumers. It would be easy, but it would be pointless: higher prices won’t make it easier for shoppers with already-stretched budgets to buy our high-quality cosmeceuticals. We may have to increase our prices someday, but that day has not arrived: we haven’t run out of creative ideas yet!

Since we’ve chosen not to pass on higher costs to consumers, we are implementing better ideas in two categories. First, we’ve been implementing more cost-effective ways to work; you won’t be able to notice many of these but some, such as changing the way we process online sales and re-designing The Formulator, you’ve probably already noticed. Second, and most interesting, we have developed and are now offering for sale two kinds of reasonably-priced skincare, made with the same great care and attention to detail as our more costly cosmeceutical products.

• At the-formulator.com, you can select a simple emollient base for $9.99, optionally adding one essential oil or botanical ingredient to create a 2oz (55gr) custom lotion. Because you choose which ingredient to add, with the price of each ingredient clearly posted, you control both the content and the cost of your lotion.
• At lotion-potion.com, you can choose from our new retail product line of “simple skincare“, featuring lotions and creams rich in vitamins and botanicals. We are launching this line with eight new skincare products, ranging in price from $9.95 for4oz moisturizing milk with essential oil of grapefruit (for morning) or lavender (for evening) to $34.95 for 1oz cream with 15% Vitamins C, E, and A. New Product Added, Old Product Re-Introduced

One of our old products, Anabolin™, which is based on anabolic ingredients, is now re-introduced for retail consumers. For several years, Anabolin™ was available only for special batch orders. Consumers of topical products have increased interest in products containing ingredients which may have anabolic effects in oral formulations, and wish to have them in their topicals. When we first came out with Anabolin™ ten years ago, consumers of topicals felt more comfortable spending money for things they could swallow rather than things they could apply to their skin. However, consumers are now more appreciative of the art of topical nourishment of the skin and its great advantages in targeting ingredients to needed areas only.
