We are offering this special price so that more people can try the product and benefit from it, and get a glimpse of our capabilities, quality, and originality in every aspect of product formulation. It is also intended to act as a little light of new hope for customers who are now struggling with crushing financial pressures and tell them that that they count even when their shopping power is reduced, and that we made a wonderful and affordable new product for them.

(For more of our low-price, high-quality skincare, we invite you to visit Lotion-Potion.com)

Because we have priced ecLIPS™ so low, we must limit orders to a maximum of four 0.7 oz jars per person per month at this price. We will post an update in this blog if we change this policy.

We are accepting orders for ecLIPS™ now, and we have begun shipping it as free skincare of the month to our qualified customers.

Two New Formulations Feature Cactus Fruit

November 25th, 2008

Our free Skincare of the Month for November has been mailed to shoppers who made qualifying purchases in October and September and we are very happy to make it available now for general sale.

DesertBloom Hydrating Cream

DesertBloom™ Hydrating Cream is formulated in a soothing emollient base of mango butter, with extracts of cactus fruit and blackberry seeds and essential oil of balsam peru.

Like mango butter [Mangifera indica], both cactus fruit [prickly pear, Opuntia ficus-indica] and balsam peru [Myroxylon pereirae] have long histories of use as traditional remedies for skin irritations and other complaints. We’ve combined them with blackberry [Rubus fruticosus], rich in anti-oxidants, and extra Vitamin C for a new hydrating cream with a luxurious feel and a delicate aroma.

We also feature our favorite cactus fruit in our new Topical Bodybuilding serum for scalp: scalpXtreme.

scalpXtreme topical bodybuilding for scalp

 Ingredients in scalpXtreme include:

  • our proprietary Nanosomes(anti-aging, cell-membrane lipid modifiers and biochemical rejuvenators, and interactive intra-dermal vehicles when introduced via IV or to isolated cells and tissues)
  • resveratrol (anabolic, anti-aging, arrestor of pre-mature cell appoptosis (programed cell death), and one of the most powerful anti-oxidants available when used orally)
  • saw palmetto extract (contains ingredients which are very supportive of balding scalp to carry on healthy functions when used orally)
  • caffeine (stimulant toner when used orally)
  • arginine (possible nitric oxide accellerator when used orally)
  • ethylcreatine-malate (a possible source of energy and endurance when used orally)
  • ferulic acid (chemically related to curcumin but without the strong yellow color; added in large concentration. A powerful anti-oxidant and UV absorber.)
  • gamma oryzanol (a natural oil-soluble form of ferulic acid-phytosterols congugate)
  • adenosine-alpha-keto-glutarate (metabolic anchoring)
  • Vitamin C (in an oil-soluble form)

in a concentrated cactus [Opuntia] fractionated extract formulation. Anabolic synergy among these ingredients enables them to work smoothly  together; synergistic design throughout our scalp-care line means that, while scalpXtreme is a powerful standalone product, it works especially well in partnership with our JuveLineand NanoScalp®

We invite you to visit the scalpXtreme product information page at http://www.elsomresearch.com/shopping/products/scalp-extreme.htm and buy it from our Cosmeceuticals Shop.

SPECIAL OFFER: Buy scalpXtreme™ between now and December 31, 2008 and we will include a free gift of .5oz (14gr) Nanosomin™ Anti-Aging Serum.

New issue of Journal of Topical Formulations

July 21st, 2008

We are very happy to announce that, after a long hiatus, the Journal of Topical Formulations has resumed publication!

In the July 2008 issue’s feature article, Dr. Yechiel elaborates on dynamic synergy, the philosophy behind the Elsom Research Scalp Renewal Regimen.  Other articles explore the complex concept of shelf life, review an anthropologist’s book about skin, and identify an online source of detailed information about cosmetic ingredients.

We have many ideas about topics for future issues and we look forward to producing them. Watch this blog for announcements when future issues are available.

Six-Month Scalp Renewal Regimen

July 11th, 2008

We get many questions from shoppers about how best to combine multiple cosmeceuticals to optimize skin and scalp care. We are fascinated by synergy and very happy to answer those questions, but we would also like to offer some big-picture suggestions about how to create something greater than the sum of its parts (that’s synergy!) with shifting patterns of action and counter-action (that’s dynamic synergy!). As a step in that direction, we have created two things:

  • a six-month scalp renewal regimen, laid out on a day-by-day graph and supported with extensive notes, showing a method of coordinating the use of ten bottles and jars containing eight of our scalp care cosmeceuticals within a dynamic pattern
  • a Scalp Renewal Regimen Kit, containing all the products described in the regimen, in quantities adequate to support the regimen for six months

The cost of the Scalp Renewal Regimen Kit is a $100 savings on the price of its contents if they are purchased separately.

We hope both of these items, the Scalp Renewal Regimen (the plan) and the Scalp Renewal Regimen Kit (the supplies to implement the plan), will be educational and helpful and great winners in the battle of the less-than-perfect scalps. We plan to publish similar regimens for other groups of cosmeceuticals soon.

Nanotechnology Presentations Coming Soon

June 26th, 2008

Elsom Research President Dr. Yechiel will be the speaker at two upcoming nanotechnology-related events:

At the Nanomaterials Application Center Colloquium September 8, 2008, his presentation, “Nano-Tooling versus Nano-Sizing”, will be be available free to registered attendees live or by video conference at several Texas locations including Austin, College Station, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, and The Woodlands. An abstract of the presentation follows:

“While nano-sizing is an accredited feature of nano-technology, it is at the same time the more basic, simple, and even simplistic aspect for looking at nano-technology. Nano-sizing is an ancient trick and was even applied in potions made in ancient Egypt and other ancient cultures by simple - prolonged - grinding. On the other hand, patterning of small particles involves a completely different level of complexity and sophistication. Tooling in nano-technology implies that the real challenges of the field begin where small particles are thought to be organized in certain patterns rather than randomly distributed. Nano-technology exposes its great challenges mostly where special applications and tooling are co-developed.”

As part of International Technology Week in Dallas, Dr. Yechiel’s October 3 presentation on the “Biology and Medicine” track at nanoTX’08 will be “Nano-Encapsulation Technology Overcomes Aesthetic Limitations of Food and Skincare Ingredients”. This presentation will discuss some recent challenging projects at Elsom Research, in which innovative encapsulation techniques and small particle sizes make beneficial-but-unpleasant materials available for use in foods and cosmetics.

Simple Skincare

June 19th, 2008

You’ve certainly noticed that the cost of almost everything has gone up in the past year. As manufacturers, we face this problem in many directions: prices have increased for the supplies and equipment we buy; transportation costs are higher, both for the raw ingredients we have shipped to us and for the finished products we send out to our customers; budgets are tighter, so shoppers who might have previously stocked up with the largest-available size are now buying just enough to get by; money is tight, and it seems as if this may be the situation for a while.

The easy thing for us to do about the current financial crunch would be to join the crowd and raise all our prices, passing along our increased expenses to consumers. It would be easy, but it would be pointless: higher prices won’t make it easier for shoppers with already-stretched budgets to buy our high-quality cosmeceuticals. We may have to increase our prices someday, but that day has not arrived: we haven’t run out of creative ideas yet!

Since we’ve chosen not to pass on higher costs to consumers, we are implementing better ideas in two categories. First, we’ve been implementing more cost-effective ways to work; you won’t be able to notice many of these but some, such as changing the way we process online sales and re-designing The Formulator, you’ve probably already noticed. Second, and most interesting, we have developed and are now offering for sale two kinds of reasonably-priced skincare, made with the same great care and attention to detail as our more costly cosmeceutical products.

  • At the-formulator.com, you can select a simple emollient base for $9.99, optionally adding one essential oil or botanical ingredient to create a 2oz (55gr) custom lotion. Because you choose which ingredient to add, with the price of each ingredient clearly posted, you control both the content and the cost of your lotion.
  • At lotion-potion.com, you can choose from our new retail product line of “simple skincare“, featuring lotions and creams rich in vitamins and botanicals. We are launching this line with eight new skincare products, ranging in price from $9.95 for4oz moisturizing milk with essential oil of grapefruit (for morning) or lavender (for evening) to $34.95 for 1oz cream with 15% Vitamins C, E, and A. In addition to great prices, important ingredients, and our special formulation techniques, our new Lotion-Potion products feature something extra: poetry! Please check out lotion-potion.com, and let us know what you think.

We continue to develop new retail cosmeceuticals and to expand the list of ingredients you can add to your custom micro-batch via The Formulator. Watch this blog for announcements!

The-Formulator is Back!

April 8th, 2008

The new and improved Formulator is available at http://www.the-formulator.com. It includes some interesting new features and is easier to operate; its design is consistent with that of our store for stock cosmeceuticals. Many new ingredients have been added. We have also added an option for creation of low-cost single-herb extracts in emollient oil to allow customers to try an idea they have about a specific herb without a major expenditure. It’s fun to experiment with it and formulate your own product according to your own preferences and budget; please give it a try and let us know what you think.
